Astray · How to play

Astray is a physical maze viewed in three dimensions. The camera follows the ball rather than showing the whole map. Every exit creates a larger maze, so carefully explore the corridors and remember junctions.

Controls

Hold the arrow or WASD keys, or hold the on-screen direction buttons, to roll. Find the opening on the far side of the maze. How to play opens the instructions.

Rules & goal

  • Hold a direction with the keyboard or the touch pad to apply an impulse to the ball.
  • Walls stop the ball. Reach the opening near the far corner and roll out to advance.
  • The next generated maze is larger. Use the How to play button for a reminder of the controls.

Beginner tips

  • Use short directional holds around corners; the ball retains momentum.
  • At a dead end, return to the last junction rather than pressing harder into a wall.
  • Pause from the portal before leaving the game. Rendering and physics stop while it is covered.

Progress & devices

Play in a desktop or mobile browser using the controls above. Some games save only in the current browser; clearing site data can remove saves. Pause when stepping away. Reloading is not guaranteed to preserve the current round.
